Paul's Mysterious Disease

Hey, what! It seems that The Gorgeous Beatle's got a heavy weight on his mind! Now just what is it that keeps him in pain?

Article from Today's Teens Magazine - Around 1964 or 1965.

Just looking at Paul's happy face, you'd never dream that he has something really troubling him! But the fact is that he does have a problem on his mind (or should we say his head)! And from time to time, his thoughts keep returning to his one big headache!

You see, when Paul was a teenager, something very terrible happened to him! And he's concerned that it might possibly happen to him again someday!

Paul explained, "Did you hear of the Great London Plague? Well, I had something even worse ̶ the Great McCartney Rash! Believe me, that really gave me a bloomin' headache ̶ one even aspirin couldn't cure!"

Paul told us the story behind the Great McCartney Rash. (And if we hadn't heard it directly from him, we'd never would've believed it It's just that fantastic!)

It all started long before Paul became a Beatle. He woke up one morning and discovered that his toes were very red! In a few hours, the redness had crept up to his waist! And by late afternoon, he was red all over!

Paul told us, "I was rushed to the hospital and put in isolation! That means that nobody came to see me except a lot of nurses and doctors who peeked at me from behind masks and looked bewildered!"

Whenever Paul asked what was wrong with him, the doctor just shook his head sadly and told him not to ask questions.

"I finally found out why," Paul said. "When I looked at my hospital chart. I saw that in the space where my illness was supposed to be, there were two very large question marks! To tell the truth, that didn't make me feel any better at all!"

It took five long weeks for Paul's Great Rash to go away! And during that time, Paul thought of how horrible it would be if it ever came back again! Then he really got a headache!

Paul complained, "The most horrible part is that the doctors weren't really sure of what caused it in the first place! So they can't prevent it from coming back ̶ or cure it if it does!"

Whenever Paul thinks about the Great McCartney Rash, he gets an even bigger headache than had before.

We at Today's Teens are sure of one thing, though. We think Paul's adorable ̶ even 'red" all over! But for his sake, we hope we never have to see him that way! Frankly, that would give us a headache, too!
